Dr. Jason McLendon, DVM, Owner
Dr. Jason McLendon is originally from Carrollton, GA. His grandparents owned farms in South Georgia and this is where Jason spent a lot of his childhood summers. It was through these experiences that he knew that he wanted to be a veterinarian. When Dr. McLendon was fifteen years old, he started working for mixed animal veterinarians in Carroll County, Georgia. He soon realized that he had a passion for the large animal side of veterinary medicine. He obtained a Bachelor of Animal Science from the University of Georgia in 1996. While attending the University of Georgia, he was employed by the UGA School of Veterinary Medicine as a veterinary technician. After graduating college and before buckling down to go to veterinary school, Dr. McLendon was employed by a purebred Angus farm in Glasgow, Montana.
Dr. McLendon moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana from Montana to attend Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. While in veterinary school, he worked for mixed animal veterinarians as well as a large Arabian breeding and training farm. He also lived on a farm and managed an equine boarding facility while attending veterinary school. While in veterinary school, Dr. McLendon completed several externships at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital (Lexington, Kentucky), Pea Ridge Veterinary Clinic (Pea Ridge, Arkansas), and Equine Medical Associates (Hawkinsville, GA). He graduated from LSUSVM in 2001.
After completing veterinary school, Dr. McLendon returned to Georgia and worked as an equine ambulatory practitioner. After one year in the field, he went to work at Coosa Valley Equine Center in Pell City, Alabama. Coosa Valley Equine Center is a surgical referral center that specializes in equine lameness diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. McLendon worked at CVEC for almost three years and then returned to Georgia.
Southern Crescent Equine Services was established in 2005 in Newnan, Ga and has evolved into a general equine practice that offers a wide variety of services. Dr. McLendon’s special interest include lameness, minor surgeries, reproduction, and dentistry. Dr. McLendon is also an FEI accredited treating veterinarian. Most of Dr. McLendon’s free time is spent with his wife and three teenagers. They can be found at volleyball, basketball, and football games. They also enjoy horseback riding, cross country meets, hunting, and spending time at the lake.


Matt Reynolds, DVM
Born and raised on a dairy farm in Belvidere, TN, Dr. Matt Reynolds started caring for the cows on their family farm when he was five years old. Growing up on the farm inspired him to want to work with animals.
In 1994, Matt graduated from Huntland High School and went on to MTSU for his undergrad. In May of 2001 he graduated from the University Of Tennessee College Of Veterinary Medicine: It was there that he decided to work as an equine vet. Two months out of college, Dr. Reynolds started work in Camden, SC at South Carolina Equine Associates. He worked mainly on flat-track and steeplechase thoroughbreds, but also with hunter/jumper, endurance, and western disciplines.
On May 10, 2003, Matt married his wife, Angela. Shortly after, they moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where he worked with Cannon Hill Veterinary Clinic for four years, mainly working on standardbred racehorses. In June of 2007, Dr. Reynolds moved back to South Carolina. There he led an equine practice that was branched off of a small animal practice. Then, in April of 2008, a position opened at SCES and Dr. Reynolds moved to GA to work with Dr. Jason McLendon.
On 6-19-2010, Matt and Angela had their first child: Olivia Faith Reynolds. Dr. Reynolds has the passion for performance/sport horse medicine.

Libby Reidy, DVM
Dr. Libby Reidy was born and raised on a small farm in West Virginia. The horse obsession began very early and continues today. She enjoyed competing in dressage, eventing, fox hunting, and Pony Club (H/H-A rated). Dr. Libby went to Bethany College in Bethany, WV where she received her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and a minor in Women’s Studies in 2010. She graduated in 2014 with her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University. (WAR EAGLE!!)
After vet school, Dr. Libby completed a one-year (2014-2015) equine specialty internship at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in Ringoes, NJ. Dr. Libby joined Southern Crescent Equine Services in 2015 after completion of her internship. Dr. Libby was always interested in an integrated medicine approach to treating her patients. As a result, Dr. Libby became certified in Equine Acupuncture from The Chi Institute in 2016, followed by a certification in animal chiropractic from Options for Animals in 2020. Dr. Libby believes strongly in practicing a true mix of western and eastern medicine to help her patients reach their maximum potential for performance and health. She is a FEI Level 1 Official Veterinarian.
When Dr. Libby isn’t working she enjoys traveling, riding her horse, practicing yoga, hiking with her dog and gardening.


Brooke Alnwick, DVM
Dr. Brooke Alnwick grew up in Groton, Massachusetts with dogs and horses that helped spark her love of animals. She started working with her horse’s veterinarian as a teenager, and quickly learned that she wanted to follow in his footsteps! She obtained a bachelors in pre-veterinary sciences from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2016. While living in Amherst, she worked on a dairy farm and helped manage a small herd of beef cattle. She also was a member of the UMass Equestrian Team. She then moved to Auburn, Alabama for veterinary school and earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Auburn University in 2020. While in veterinary school, she worked in the equine hospital on weekends, held multiple leadership positions, and participated in research projects.
After veterinary school, Dr. Brooke completed an internship in the large animal hospital at the University of Georgia. Here she gained further experience in surgery, internal medicine, and emergency/critical care for all large animals.
Dr. Brooke joined Southern Crescent Equine Services in July of 2021. Her interests include lameness, diagnostic imaging, emergencies, and ophthalmology. She spends her free time hiking with her dogs, fishing, exploring new restaurants, and being active with her local church.


Katy Mayhew, DVM
Dr. Katy Mayhew joined Southern Crescent Equine Services in March of 2022. She attended veterinary school at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine as part of the class of 2016. She completed a rotating internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Colorado prior to practicing general equine medicine near Athens, GA for 4 years. She started her own dentistry-only practice in 2021 but was thrilled for the opportunity to join Southern Crescent Equine as an associate a little over a year later.
Dr. Mayhew has a strong interest in advanced oral care, dentistry and tooth extractions. Older horses, affectionately known as the "Golden Oldies", have a special place in her heart. Dr. Mayhew also offers chiropractic and acupuncture services for horses and takes a whole health approach to every case. When asked what she loves most about her job, her answer is "helping clients enjoy their horses".
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Mayhew and her husband enjoy hiking and spending time with their dog, Violet. Dr. Mayhew has two of her own horses, Tivoli and Loui. Dr. Mayhew loves to garden, trail ride, practice yoga and drink really good coffee.


Katie Winkles, DVM
Dr. Katie Winkles is originally from Pine Mountain, GA. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Columbus State University in 2016, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 2020. Following graduation, she completed rotating internship at Weatherford Equine Medical Center in Weatherford , Texas. She enjoys all aspects of equine medicine and has specific interests in preventative care, reproduction, dentistry, and emergency medicine. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her English Shepherd, Bonnie, as well as playing piano, hiking, and reading.

Anna Lanier
Anna has been a technician with SCES since 2019 and is currently with Dr. Reynolds. Anna is an venter with her gelding, Drifteer. Fun fact is Anna and her mare, Lena, share the same birthday! Anna really enjoys reading when she has free time and spending time with her dogs, friends, and family outside on thee farm!

Jazmin Palomera
Jazmin has always been a Newnan native and has been lucky enough to continue gaining valuable experience and knowledge in her own hometown and near her family. Growing up as an SCES client, she was thrilled to join the team in the summer of 2022. With years of riding, training, and managing Arabian horses in all aspects, it is no surprise that after joining the practice as a technician, she has decided to return to school with the hopes of one day following in the footsteps of the amazing doctors she is able to work with daily. She looks forward to many years of learning and continuing to grow with her SCES family.

Michelle Wright
Michelle joined the team in April 2013. She has worked in the horse industry for over 25 years training, giving basic horsemanship lessons, and working with the 4-H drill team. She no longer works with horses, but in her free time, she enjoys playing and training with her two dogs.
